Patio-Invernadero/Patio-green house

Hola!

Here I am again. And I am bringing the results of the draw for the first year of my blog. I had not shown you the exact photo of the prize. This is it:

The winner will get the barbecue grill as you  see it in the photo. I also added a small bowl with some vegetables, ok? Let´s have a bit of suspense ... lol. I will show the results of the draw at the end of this post ;)

As I told you, today I am bringing the patio-annex-greenhouse of Rebeca's house. In the last entry I said that I did not know what to do with it and that I found inspiration in the plant shop that I made some time ago. It is not a new shop, I´d like to clarify it because I think I did not explain myself very well and some thought it was recently made. No, I made it in March 2016, at least  Facebook tells me that, but looking at those photos I found inspiration for this patio. Anyway, I am rambling.

The thing is that this patio is a small room to keep tools and all Rebeca´s gardening materials she uses when she plays with her plants and garden. Now I will have to make a garden for this house, ha! what am I getting myself into. I want the place to be used, a bit dirty and disorganised.

I started by making a sink in cardboard then covered with several layers of plaster and some  tiling. I remember some old sinks like this one from my childhood.

I put a small ring as a drain and an old tap I love. I need to make it look dirtier.

I made some shelves and aged them.

Here you can see one recently made and another after the painting.

This is the patio. I love mosaic tiles and hydraulic floors but I thought the idea was to make it look old not "pretty". These tiles were very common, right?

The floor did not quite convince me so I aged it even more. I used plaster, which I then removed with a damp cloth. It left that patina that I loved. I think it looks old, very used and worn.

Puse una tubería al fregadero, falta pintarla.

I also put a pipe under the sink, I need to paint it.

Probando repisas/ testing the shelves.

And here I am playing with different elements. The gardening work area with all its elements will be at the back. And at the front I'm thinking to make a small resting area.

I do not know if these elements will be the definitive ones.
Now I am making lots of gardening products, fertilisers, bags of soil, etc. and also small plants and cuttings to fill the shelves and the back.

If you have any ideas and suggestions, you are welcome. I still do not know what to do with the wall on the right where the windows are. Do I put glass and windows? Do I cover the bottom half? Do I leave everything open? What about the thieves? lol, the easiest thing would be just to frame the arches and entrance and leave it open, but is it real? I receive suggestions and opinions, please!

Y hasta aquí he avanzado/ And this is all my progress so far.

  4. Congratulations, Drora!
Alex - the sink and tiles and whole room are wonderful! The tiles give way to a tropical setting, so I might tend to leave the windows open. But I live in a cool climate where I dream of having an open kitchen. I might build them up a bit and then coat them in stucco. Whatever you decode, it will be beautiful!

    Besico!

  11. Congratulations to Drora! What a great prize! And Alex, the patio looks great. I don’t think the windows need glass but you could put it in. I like it open as it is.

  13. Un gran trabajo hasta ahora. El suelo divino.
    ¿Ideas??

  15. First of all: Congrats to Drora for being the lucky one! And of course a big "Gracias" to you for offering this wonderful price! And now to your patio: WOW! I admire especially the floor after the aging, just the right effect to make it realistic, old and worn. The sink turned out fantastic too with the lovely tiles and one can never have too much storage space so the shelves are a wonderful addition. Your test run with the furniture gives a nice impression how this could become in the end... although I suppose Rebecca would prefer wooden garden furniture. About your question... you windows need glass for sure but sometimes a thick plastic foil can do the job too. ;O) It's hard to decide whether to have the whole front in "glass" or just the upper part... maybe it's not so nice to sit in front of a total glass front while enjoying a nice and cozy "Kaffeeklatsch" *LOL* But the small stripe between the window parts might be perfect for a rod carrying hanging pots with seedlings, herbs and flowers? Well, you will find a wonderful solution and I'm looking forward to see it! ;O)

    Hugs
    Birgit
