Probando.../ Testing...

Hola!

No traigo mucho hoy, solo los avances del dormitorio y del cuarto de estar y varias pruebas que llevo haciendo.

Me ha costado un poco decidirme que hacer con estas habitaciones, principalmente porque quiero aprovechar las cosas que tengo.

Os muestro las pruebas en el cuarto de estar.

I do not bring much today, only the progress in the main bedroom and a small lounge and some tests that I have been doing.

It has taken me a while to decide what to do with these rooms, mainly because I want to use the things I already have.

Let me show some testing in the living room.

Mi idea siempre fue colocar una puerta falsa que diese a las escaleras y poner otro mural. Aquí el problema radica en acomodar los muebles que tengo, todos diferentes aunque ese nunca ha sido un problema para mí. Me gusta combinar lo incombinable jeje. Otro problemas es acomodar la puerta, pues en el centro me impediría colocar el mural al fondo, y me enamoré del que ven en la foto tan pronto lo vi. No, no puedo renunciar a él.

My idea was always to place a false door to the stairs and have another mural. Here the problem lies in accommodating the furniture I have, all different, although that has never been a problem for me. I like to combine things that don´t match at all lol. Another problem is to place the door. In the centre of the back wall it would prevent me from placing the mural. I fell in love with the one you see in the photo as soon as I saw it. No, I can not give it up.

Al final, creo, pondré la puerta a un lado. Esto es lo que llevo por el momento. No hay nada definitivo aun. Una vez decida, pondré cuadros y baldas en las paredes de ambos lados.

In the end, I think, I'll put the door on the left. This is what I think at the moment. There is nothing definitive yet. Once I decide, I will put pictures and shelves on the walls on both sides.

Y ahora la habitación principal, mi principal dolor de cabeza, porque quiero que, respetando la misma paleta de colores y estilo, sea a la vez muy cálida.

Este es la distribución que más o menos llevará, las fotos muestran diferentes opciones de papel al fondo.

And now the main bedroom, my main headache, as I want it to be very warm while respecting the same colour palette and style. 

This is the probably layout, the photos show different paper choices in the background.

 

Cuando estaba instalando la alfombra, fui muy torpe y dañé una lámina completa del papel auto-adhesivo de alfombra. No tenía más y me tocó hacer un empate que he tratado de cubrir de mil maneras pero nada funciona. Tendré que cambiarlo por uno nuevo, no puedo soportar ver esa línea divisoria.

When I was installing the carpet, I was very clumsy and damaged a full sheet of self-adhesive carpet paper. I didn´t have more so I had to use leftover pieces. I have tried to cover the joint in a thousand ways but nothing works. I will have to change the whole carpet for a new one, I cannot bear to see that dividing line.

He escogido el papel de nubes y pájaros pues me encanta el aire que le da a la habitación y he hecho una lámpara usando abalorios varios y mis luces de baratillo.

I have chosen the clouds and birds wallpaper because I love the flair that it gives to the room and I have made a lamp using various beads, findings and my cheap lights.

Creo que ya tengo la cosa más definida y casi que estoy 100% lista para continuar. Estoy a la espera de un espejo que creo encajará perfectamente en esta habitación, arreglar el desastre de la alfombra y poner los accesorios complementarios.

I think  the rooms are most defined and I am nearly 100% ready to continue. I am waiting for a mirror I think will fit perfectly in this room, I have to fix the mess of the carpet and put some accessories.

That's the way it is for now.

La feria de Pola y el pasillo

Hello :)

No, no fui a la Feria de Pola de Siero. Por supuesto que me hubiese encantado ir pero no es posible hacerlo todo. Sin embargo, Carolina es muy amable y paciente, me permite disfrutar un poco de la feria y compra algunas cosillas para mí. Esta vez el día de la feria amanecí con una migraña horrorosa y casi me la pierdo, pero afortunadamente me recuperé a tiempo y gracias a la magia del Whatsapp pude ver algunas mesas y señalar a Caro lo que quería. Caro también me hizo sugerencias y al final me quedó un lote adorable de la feria.

No, I did not go to Pola de Siero´s  Fair. Of course I would have loved to go but it is not possible to do everything. However, Carolina is very kind and patient, she allowed me to enjoy a bit of the fair and bought a few things for me. This time on the day of the fair I woke up with a horrible migraine and I almost missed it, but fortunately I recovered in time and thanks to the magic of WhatsApp I saw some tables and pointed out to Caro what I wanted. Caro also made suggestions and in the end I had an adorable lot from the fair. 

Ayer llego el paquete y yo saltaba de la emoción. Ya verán por qué. Mis compras son absoultamente divinas en la realidad. Os muestro mis tesoros de Pola. 

Yesterday the package arrived and I jumped from the excitement. You will see why. My purchases are absolutely divine in RL. Let me show you my treasures from the fair.

Estas maravillas son de unas artesanas portuguesas, no sé el nombre. Pero desde que vi los jarrones en la publicidad de la feria supe que los quería. Si me hubiese tocado escoger una sola mini en toda la feria, sería sin duda uno de estos jarrones. Los amo!

These beauties are from some Portuguese artisans, I do not know their name. But since I saw the vases on the fair´s advertising I knew I wanted them. If I had to choose a single mini in the whole fair, it would undoubtedly be one of these vases. I love them! 

Un poco de materiales/ some materials.

Gracias Caro!!! Estoy feliz con todas mis minis/ Thank you Caro!!! I am so happy with all my miniatures.

Y como si fuera poco también recibí el regalito de Carmen para sus compis de la feria. No me lo podía creer, gracias Carmen!! eres la generosidad en persona.

And as if that was not enough I also received Carmen´s gift for her fair friends. I could not believe it, thank you Carmen! You are Generosity in person.

Y ahora os traigo otro rincón de mi casa moderna, el pasillo de la 1ª planta. Es muy sencillo, pocas cosas pero siguiendo el estilo de toda la casa. A mí me gusta mucho a pesar de su sencillez o quizás por eso. Os dejo con las fotos.

And now I bring you another corner of my modern house, the corridor on the first floor. It's very simple, only a few things but on the style of the whole house. I like it a lot despite its simplicity or maybe because of that. I leave you with the photos:

Los espejos son un regalo de Caro que me manda cosas porque sí, porque es muy generosa. Las alfombras son de Nicola Brown (Facebook market place) y las mesitas son los artilugios de las pizzas pintados en plateado.

The mirrors are a gift from Caro, who sends things just because, because she is very generous. The carpets are by Nicola Brown (Facebook market place) and the tables are those gadgets from pizza boxes painted in silver.

Al ver las fotos me di cuenta de que faltaba el pomo de la puerta del fondo. Ya está solucionado.

When I saw the pictures I realised that the doorknob was missing on the back door. Already solved.

Aunque estas últimas fotos no son muy buenas pues había poca luz. ¿Qué opináis del pasillo?

Una visita al pasado/ A visit to the past

Hi!

Un titulo muy sugestivo traigo hoy. Resulta que aproveché el fin de semana de finales de abril y el 1 de mayo para hacer una visita corta a Londres, visitar a mi hija y por supuesto echarle un ojo a mi cuñada que como sabéis ahora vive en un hogar. Fueron solo 4 días así que no tuvimos tiempo de hacer mucho, pero conté con suerte y pudimos visitar la tienda de Kristyn Baybars, de la que quizás habéis oído hablar pues es una institución en el mundo de los juguetes especialmente las miniaturas.

A very suggestive title I bring today. The weekend of the end of April and May the 1st I made a short visit to London, to see my daughter and of course to check on my sister-in-law who as you know lives now in a home. It was only 4 days so we did not have time to do much, but I was lucky and we were able to visit Kristyn Baybars´ shop, which you may have heard about since it is an institution in the world of toys, especially miniatures.

Ya la fachada nos habla de un lugar muy antiguo, sin embargo es difícil imaginar lo que hay en su interior. Kristyn es ya muy mayor, pero afortunadamente su tienda aun sobrevive y recientemente la han organizado un poco mejor (tiene cientos y cientos de miniaturas en todos los lugares posibles) y hasta la podéis encontrar en facebook. Es mi 3ª visita y no dejo de maravillarme cada vez que voy, entrar es como realizar un viaje al pasado o a otra dimensión. Os dejo con las fotos que tomé:

The facade tells us about a very old place, however it is difficult to imagine what is inside. Kristyn is older now, but fortunately her shop still survives and recently they have organised it a little better (it has hundreds and hundreds of miniatures in all possible places) and you can even find it on facebook. It's my 3rd visit and I cannot stop marvelling every time I go, entering is like taking a trip to the past or another dimension. I leave you with the photos I took:

Y estas fueron mis compras. Más que todo cosas prácticas, de producción masiva, pues estaban a muy buen precio y me servirán para mi próximo proyecto. Ya me encantaría comprar las miniaturas de artesanos que tienen, pero mi presupuesto era limitado. Me conformo con haber visitado este sitio tan mágico. Bueno, estas son mis compras:

And these were my purchases. More than all, practical things, of mass production, they were at a very good price and will be useful for my next project. I would love to buy the artisan miniatures they have, but my budget was limited. I am satisfied with having visited this magical place. Well, these are my purchases:

Y por último les cuento que el domingo nos fuimos de mercadillo aquí cerca de nuestro pueblo y tuve la suerte de encontrar unas miniaturas que no desaproveché, todo lo de la siguiente foto por 25€, que chollo no?

And finally, on Sunday we went to a street market near our town and I was lucky to find some miniatures that I took home with me, all the contents on the following picture for 25€, what a deal, isn´t it?

Seguramente mis nuevas adquisiciones serán transformadas a su debido tiempo, pero estoy feliz de las cosas que voy acumulando para futuros proyectos.

Surely my new acquisitions will be transformed in due time, but I am happy with the things I am accumulating for future projects.

Hay más, Caro fue mi representante en la feria de Pola de Siero y me hizo el gran favor de comprar cositas que se me antojaron, pero eso ya os contaré en el próximo post.

There is more, Caro was my representative at the fair of Pola de Siero and she did me the great favor of buying things I wanted, but that I will tell you in the next post.
