La cocina de Rebeca II/ Rebecca´s Kitchen II

Estoy disfrutando mucho de esta cocina, intento ir haciendo las cosas a buen ritmo pero sin prisas. Me cuesta un poco porque soy impaciente, pero me digo a mí misma que así la disfrutaré más y quedará mejor.
I am enjoying a lot this kitchen, I am trying to keep a good rhythm with no hurry. It is not easy as I am a bit impatient, but I keep telling myself that in this way I will enjoy it more and the result will be better.

No siempre funciona, hace unos días no podía dormir, literalmente. Yo que duermo como un lirón :) ¿Qué hice? pues que me levanté de la cama y me puse a trabajar en la cocina, ¿qué más podía hacer? El resultado de esta productiva madrugada son las cortinas del mesón.
It doesn't always work. A few days ago I couldn't sleep, and I sleep like a baby. So, what did I do? I got up and worked on the kitchen. The result of that productive early morning was the curtains of the worktop/sink area.

Sigo aventurando e intentando cosas. He tuneado un mueble conocido por todos y que a mi me gusta mucho, dudaba entre dejarlo como era o modificarlo. Al final decidí lo segundo. He de tener cuidado, me gustan mucho las cosas coloridas pero ultimamente tengo una fascinación por el estilo...mmm ¿francés? ¿provenzal? ¿shaby chic? ¿vintage? el nombre es lo de menos, ¿sabéis de esos ambientes con muebles antiguos, pintados de blanco y envejecidos con un aire romántico y un poco decadente? pues eso,  y decía que he de tener cuidado o esta casa terminará siendo así y no, tiene que resultar antigua de origen, no como el producto de un decoraror moderno que ha pretendido darle ese aire nostálgico. Ese es OTRO proyecto. Soy una decoradora frustrada, creo que la mayoría de los que estamos en esta afición lo somos :)
I keep on adventuring and trying things. I have customised a cupboard you all know and that originally I like a lot. I doubted on leaving it as it was or change it. At the end I decided to change it. I have to be careful, I love colours but lately I have this fascination for the style called...mmm... French? Provencal? Shabby Chic? Vintage? the name is not important. Do you know those rooms filled with pieces of old furniture, painted in white and distressed? with a romantic and a bit decadent vibe? that´s it. I was saying I have to be careful or this house would end up like that. And no, it has to be authentically old, not as the product of a modern decorator aiming for that style. That is ANOTHER project. I am a frustrated decorator, I think most people in this world are :)

En fin, me disperso, he tuneado el mueble y lo he hecho de blanco y envejecido, por eso tendré cuidado con los que seguirán.
Anyway, I am wandering. I have painted the cupboard in white and distressed it, that´s why I have to be careful with the rest of the furniture.

También he hecho un pequeño mueble platero, estantería. Otra vez pensaba comprarlo, Caro va y me dice que no, que ella tiene, pero como no tenía nada mejor que hacer y me apetecía, decidí intentarlo. 
I have made a small shelf for plates. I was thinking to buy one but then Caro told me not to as she had one. However, I didn't have anything better to do and I fancied making it, so I tried.

Además hice otra pequeña estantería/ colgador.
I also made another small shelf to hang things.

Solo falta una mesa de preparación de comidas, que todavía no está lista y que os mostraré después.
I only need a table to prepare food. It´s not ready yet so I will show it to you later.

Muchas amigas del foro estuvieron en la feria de miniaturas de Pola este fin de semana. Yo tuve la oportunidad de seguirla de cerca porque Caro me mandaba fotos de lo que iba viendo, me contaba sus correrías, compras e indecisiones ja! Al final hablamos horas por teléfono de todo lo que fue la feria. Así que fue casi, casi, como si la hubiese vivido en primera persona. Sin embargo, que cosa es la envidia, no? bueeeno, tampoco tanto, pero con tantas compis mostrando sus compras de la feria, decidí regalarme algunas cositas que además necesito para mi casa. Nada como lo que ellas tuvieron la oportunidad de comprar, solo unas compras en una tienda online, cositas de catálogo, pero que me han gustado, son muy monas!!
Many friends from the forum went to the miniature fair in Pola de Siero last weekend. I had the opportunity to follow it closely because as she was there, Caro sent photos, told me about her impressions, buys and  indecision ha! At the end of the day we had a long telephone conversation about the fair. It was almost as I was there. However, envy is a bad thing, isn't it? Well, I was not really envious, but with so many friends showing their miniatures from the fair I decided to give myself a little present. Nothing like the things they had the opportunity to buy, just a bit of shopping from an online shop, things from a catalogue, but I like them, they are very cute!

La cocina de Rebeca/ Rebecca´s Kitchen

Lentos van los avances de mi nueva casita. Es normal, no la tenía entre mis planes, ya os conté que la encontré de casualidad y aunque fue amor a primera vista y se me encendió la inspiración al verla, lo cierto es que siempre requiero un tiempo para pensarme las cosas, darles forma en mi cabeza y saber que quiero.
I am making slow progress in mi new house. I expected that, I didn't have this house in my plans. I told you that I found it by accident and although it was love at first sight and I felt inspired when I saw it, the true is that I always need time to think, to give shape to a project in my head and to know what I want.

Sé que será una casa con un estilo antiguo, de esas que parecen congeladas en el tiempo, donde la decoración moderna no ha llegado aún. Sé que además la casa ha visto tiempos mejores, que no solo es antigua, también un poco desvencijada. Sé que su moradora es Rebeca, una señora viuda que ya crió a hijos y nietos, que vive sola y se alimenta de recuerdos. Poco más, no puedo forzar las cosas, llegarán las ideas y las historias por sí solas.
I know it is going to be a house with an old style, like those houses frozen in time, where modern decoration has not arrived yet, also a bit rickety. I know Rebecca lives in it. Rebecca is a widow whose kids and grand kids are grown ups. She lives alone and lives of memories. That´s it. I cannot force things, ideas and stories will come on their own.


He empezado por la cocina, será, creo, la única parte de la casa que llevará suelo de baldosas. Este suelo tiene su historia. Tiene muchos años y ya está amarillento y trajinado, pero allá cuando Rebeca y su marido Ramón eran aún jovenes y tuvieron algún dinero extra se les dió por remodelar un poco la cocina: Rebeca quería algo moderno y elegante, y las manos diligentes de su marido le pusieron estas baldosas que en su tiempo fueron el orgullo de Rebeca y la envidia de sus amigas ¡no más piso de cemento! Os muestro:
I have started with the kitchen. It will be the only part of the house with tiled floor, I think. This floor has its story. It is very old and yellow and used. A long time ago, when Rebecca and her husband Ramon were young and had a little extra money, they decided to modernise their kitchen. Rebecca wanted something modern and elegant. So, her hardworking husband put these tiles which made Rebecca proud and her friends envious, no more cement floor! Let me show you:

Quería una cocina antigua, que estaba en otra de mis casas y que la verdad no le iba tan bien a aquella como a ésta, así que hice unos cambios y la he reciclado para esta casa. Es un modelo bastante conocido:
I wanted and old cooker. This one was in another house but to be honest it didn't match the other house much so I made some changes and recycled it for this house. It is a common model:

Sin embargo a pesar de ser modelo antiguo, lucía muy nueva. Un poco de pintura y:

No tenía muebles para el resto de la cocina y no encontraba un modelo que quedara bien. Como me he vuelto un poco más osada, he decidido construirlo a la medida: cartón pluma, papel, una pajilla, masilla tapa grietas y abalorios:

I didn't have other furniture for the kitchen and I couldn´t find the right one. As I have become more adventurous, I decided to make my own, using some cardboard, plaster, some findings and charms:

Creo que no está mal :) / I think it doesn´t look bad :)

Os muestro lo que llevo hasta el momento, nada está pegado definitivamente pues debo antes poner vigas, marcos y limpiar los restos de la masilla de las paredes. Creo que va cogiendo forma, no?
Here I show you how it looks at the moment, nothing is glued yet as I need to put the ceiling beams and to clean the plaster on the walls before. But I thing is getting there, no?

Un nuevo proyecto/ A new project

Antes de empezar quiero agradeceros todos sus comentarios en este blog y sobre todo la compañía que me anima, me da mucha ilusión y energía para seguir.
Before I start I want to thank you for your comments and specially for your company, it encourages me and gives me energy to carry on.

Más de 10 días desde mi última entrada y me había propuesto una entrada a la semana, mmm, no tengo la costumbre de romper promesas, sin embargo creo que no he incumplido mi propósito pues hoy es el último día de esta semana en la que pensé que me quedaría sin publicar.
More than 10 days since my last entry and my objective was to post one entry per week. Mmm I dont have the habit of breaking promises and I think I have not done it as today is the last day of this week that I thought I woudn´t be able to publish. 

No han sido las ocupaciones ni los afanes de la vida, ni nada por el estilo, es que he decidido esperar hasta hoy para tener en mis manos mi próximo proyecto y poder mostrarlo.
It hasn´t been the occupations or real life matters, nothing like that. I decided to wait until today to be able to show you my next project.

Ya sabeís que no se ha terminado un proyecto cuando ya estamos pensando en el próximo. Muy bien me aconsejó Carmen tener un nuevo proyecto entre manos o vendría un bajón de seguro. Y es que da mucha tristeza terminar una escena o una casita cuando se pone tanto en ella y se le dedican tantas horas e ilusión.
You know that you are not finished with one project when you are thinking in the next one. As Carmen said,  better to have a next project in mind when you finish one to avoid feeling down. It is very sad to finish a project when you have put so much in it and dedicated so many hours and love. 

Pues bien, ha sido mi caso, tengo en la cabeza muchas ideas bullendo pero no me decidía por cual continuar, entre ellas:
Well, that was my case, I had so many ideas boiling in my mind, but I could not decide which one to continue with, amongst them:

Una gran cocina, estilo campestre preferiblemente.
Una tienda "brocante", estilo venta de garaje, mercado de pulgas, antiguedades, algo así.
Una casa toda en blanco y/o beige muy vintage.
Una tienda de artículos de lavanda, la cual coincidencialmente he visto que ya ha iniciado Santiaga y la cual promete, no os la perdáis.

A "brocante" shop, a kind of a garage, flea market or antique sale. 
An all in white house, vintage style.
A lavender shop, which coincidentally, Santiaga has started. It looks promising so don´t miss it.

La casa estaba descartada por aquello de tomar un descanso para coger fuerzas y seguir mejor con un proyecto más pequeño. Sin embargo, como supongo le pasa a muchas, no dejo de mirar en las páginas de venta de cosas de segunda mano por si aparece por ahí algo interesante, he encontrado algunas joyas de esa manera :)
The house was discarded as I wanted to take a break from big projects in order to recuperate and I thought better to continue with a small project. However, as I think happens to many of you, I cannot stop looking on second hand Websites just in case something interesting shows up. I have found a few treasures this way.

Y como el que busca encuentra, he encontrado esta casa, muy cerca del pueblo dónde vivo, que inmediatamente me enamoró y encendió en mi mente una idea que me ilusiona mucho.
They say if look for it you´ll find it, so I have found this house, near my town, and I fell in love as soon as I saw it. Immediately a very exciting idea came to my mind.

Aquí la tenéis, que me lío y no voy al grano/ Here you have it, I should stop taking and go to the point:

Por supuesto está vieja y necesita muchísimos arreglos, pero en mi opinión es una pequeña joya y promete. Es la casa Linda de Artesanía Latina, creo.

Of course it is old and in need of lots of repairs, but in my opinion is a jewel and very promising. Its the Linda House of Artesanía Latina, I believe.

Habrá que limpiarla, terminarla de armar, cambiar papeles, quitar, poner, rehacer, en fin, trabajo hay, ¿pero no es ese exactamente el encanto de esta afición?

I will have to clean it, finish it, change papers, take things off, put others, redo things, etc. There is plenty of work to do, but Is not that the charm of this hobby?

Me encanta su estilo viejuno, las escaleras me chiflan y yo solo tengo una casa con escaleras. La distribución también me gusta, que tenga pasillos, puertas que comunican las estancias ¿qué puedo decir? me gusta todo. Veamos,

I love its old style, the stairs, I only have one house with stairs. I like the distribution of the rooms too, the halls, the doors communicating to other rooms. What can I say? I like it all. Let´s see:

No será la casa en blanco ,esa ya vendrá después. La idea es que sea una casa muy vieja, con un aire de campo, un toque francés, un poco rústica, muy vivida,  que evoque mejores épocas sin perder el encanto de las cosas antiguas, esas que nos llenan de nostalgia y nos transportan a otras épocas reales o imaginarias.

This is not going to be the house in white, that will come later. The idea is to make a very old house, with a countryside atmosphere, a french touch, a bit rustic, a house that evokes better times without losing the charm of old things, those that fill us with nostalgia and take us to other times, real or imaginary.

¿Habésis visto los suelos?/ Have you seen the floors?

Estos buscaré la manera de conservarlos, me encantan!! Otros habrá que cambiarlos, pero estos son perfectos casi como están.

These floors I will try to keep, I love them! The others I will change, but I think these are almost perfect as they are.

Hasta tiene un pequeño anexo!! que ofrece muchas posibilidades/ It even has an extension! that offers many possibilities.

Tengo casi todas las partes faltantes, creo/ I think I have all the missing parts.
