El patio de mi casa andaluza/ My Andalucian house patio

¡Hola!/ Hello!

                                     

Un pequeño descanso después del salón de Rebeca, pues me apetecía un cambio mientras me inspiro cómo continuar las siguientes habitaciones.

La idea de en qué continuar vino de aprovechar las vacaciones para organizar el cuarto donde trabajo y tengo mis casas. Resulta que la primera casa que hice viviendo aquí en España está bastante maltratada pues la tenía en otra habitación dónde el polvo, el sol y el libre acceso de mis gatos a ella, habían dejado huellas en el exterior. Os muestro:

A little break after Rebecca´s room. I wanted a change while I get more inspiration to continue with  the other rooms. 

The idea of ​​where to continue came from organising the room where I work and have my houses while in holidays. The first house I made living here in Spain is quite in bad condition because I had it in another room where the dust, the sun and the free access of my cats, had left traces on the outside. Let me show you:

Así era/ Before:

Las plantas eran todas plásticas, en esa época no me atrevía a hacerlas yo misma./ The plants were all plastic, at that time I did not dare to make them myself.

Esta casa tiene 3 terrazas y las pobres dan pena. /This house has 3 terraces and they are in such bad state.

Así lucen ahora:/ Now

Lo sé, no me regañéis por favor/ I know, don´t tell me off  please.

Así que pensé en comenzar a restaurar uno de los patios y me puse manos a la obra haciendo plantas:/  So I thought about starting to restore one of the patios and I set to work making plants:

Esta jardinera es una combinación de plantas de plástico pintadas (todavía no me salen los agapantos 😀), flores en papel hechas por mí (he intentado hacer unas flores de ibisco jeje), hay que mejorar pero quedaron graciosas y unas flores de ajo, que me encantan y que hice con "flower soft".

This flower box has a combination of painted plastic plants (I still cannot make agapantos 😀 ), paper flowers made by me (I tried to make hibiscus flowers hehe), I have to improve a lot but they are kind of cute and some garlic flowers, which I loved and did  with "flower soft".

También me puse a hacer geranios, me gusta como quedaron, pero llevan muuuucho trabajo, así que solo hice dos/ I also made geraniums, I like the way they look, but they have a lot of work, so I only made two.

Esta palmera la hizo mi marido hace algún tiempo, le quedó genial, pero el sol la ha decolorado, así que le di una nueva mano de pintura y la sembré en una jardinera hecha con ladrillos./ This palm tree was made by my husband some time ago, it was great, but the sun has discoloured it, so I gave it a new coat of paint and planted it in a garden box made of bricks.

Más plantas con flower soft, me encanta este material,aunque no podría decir que corresponden a plantas reales, las flores quedan muy bonitas y no me apetecía ponerme a recortar pétalo a pétalo y hoja por hoja. A veces soy muy perezosa.

More plants with flower soft, I love this material, although I could not say that they correspond to real plants, the flowers are pretty and I did not feel like trimming petal by petal and leaf by leaf. Sometimes I'm very lazy.

Este mesón lo hice con una caja, madera de balsa y pinturas y las comidas ya imaginarán que provienen de la producción que tengo de mi marido./ This worktop/cupboard I made with a box, balsa wood and paintings and the meals you can imagine that they come from the production that I have from my husband.

Los geranios son muy típicos de estas tierras y además es muy común ver en Andalucía, macetas blancas pintadas con puntos de colores./ Geraniums are very typical of these lands and also white pots painted with coloured dots are very common here in Andalusia .

La tabla de quesos es un inter que hice con Paloma (Axión1969) y es muy chula./ The cheese board came from a swap I had with paloma (Axion1969) and it is very nice.

Una luz diferente. Ya veis que tengo manía de tomar demasiadas fotos./ A different light. You see, I have the habit of taking too many pictures.

Y aquí el patio ya puesto en su lugar. ¿Qué os parece? Yo he quedado satisfecha./ And here you have the patio in its place. What do you think? I am satisfied.

Plantas y flores

Sigo trabajando en la fachada de mi casa bohemia y he de decir que ha resultado más difícil de lo esperado.

I keep working on the facade of my bohemian house. I have to say that it has been more difficult than expected.

Como os contaba en una entrada anterior, he seguido un paso a paso de la casa mediterránea muy útil que encontré en la Web, sin embargo la fachada consta de tantas partes y es tan complicada que nunca pude cuadrarlas ni armarlas a satisfacción. Al final decidí hacer mi propia fachada, eso sí siguiendo el diseño original pero cambiando las aperturas de las puertas pues las que tengo son diferentes . Con la ayuda de David (sí, mi marido), pues soy incapaz de dibujar una línea recta o un ángulo recto, hicimos la silueta de la fachada en cartón pluma que se ha convertido en mi material de construcción favorito y me saca de cada apuro. Para hacer la estructura más compacta y fuerte, pegamos dos piezas iguales y reforzamos con listones de madera en la parte superior e inferior, pues con estas dimensiones el cartón pluma tiende a combarse. Por último cubrí ambas caras con masilla tapa grietas para darle un aspecto rústico y creo que ha quedado muy bien. Aquí antes de la pintura.

I told you before that I have been following a step by step tutorial I found on the Web, but the facade of this house has so many pieces and it is so complicated that in the end I decided to make my own version. I kept the original pattern but changed the spaces for the doors as the ones I have are different. I made the facade with David´s help (yes, my husband). I am unable to draw a straight line or a right angle.  We used "carton pluma" (sorry I don´t know the English name of this type of cardboard) which has become one of my favourite materials, therefore I use it a lot. To make the structure more compact and stronger, we glued 2 pieces together and to keep a flat surface we reinforced the top and bottom with wood. At last, I covered both sides with plaster and I think the result is good. Here it is before the painting:

En la foto la puerta de la 1ª planta se ve un poco torcida, efecto visual, espero, porque en la realidad no se ve así. También se puede ver que hice un arco de piedra tal como en la pared lateral de la terraza que ya os mostré. A falta de cartón de huevos, he utilizado papel de acuarela grueso y rellenado las juntas con masilla.

On the photo above, the door on the 1st floor looks inclined to a side. I think is a visual effect because in reality it looks straight, or so I hope. You can see a stone arch as well, like the one I showed you before on the lateral wall of the terrace. I made it using thick watercolour paper and filled in the spaces with plaster.

Ah, la puerta principal le hace honor al tema de la casa, lo bohemio, pero esa ya os mostraré después con detalle.

The main door honours the theme of the house, the bohemian look, but that I will show later with more detail.

He dicho que hoy va de plantas y así es. Con tantas entradas, puertas y ventanas como tiene esta casa, he tenido que ponerme a la tarea de hacer jardineras con muchas flores y plantas. Os muestro:

I have said that today is about plants and that´s true. With so many entrances, doors and windows in this house I have applied myself to the task of making many flowers and plants. Here you have:

Un naranjo enano/ a small orange tree

Un Agapanto/ Agapanthus:

He intentado hacer esta flor solo en papel, pero hasta ahora los resultados han sido desastrozos. Necesito conseguir alambre muy fino. En fin, usando unas florecillas plásticas, pintura y papel, ha salido este ejemplar que aunque no es perfecto, por alguna extraña razón me gusta ja! Al menos tendré éste hasta que logre hacer uno mejor.

I have tried to make this flower using paper only but so far the results have been horrendous. I need to get very thin wire. Anyway, this is what I made using some plastic flowers, paint and paper. It is not perfect by any means but for a strange reason I like it, ha! At least I can have this one until I am able to make a better one.

Lavandas/ lavender:

Una composición de plantas varias/ An arrangement of  plants

Ésta me ha gustado mucho, dejé volar un poco la imaginación por lo que hay algunas plantas basadas en plantas reales y otras son experimentos. Como quizás no pueda decir a qué planta corresponde exactamente cada una de las que hacen parte de esta composición, me propuse el reto de que la siguiente jardinera tendría plantas reales que hace mucho he querido hacer pero que no había encontrado el momento de ponerme a ello.

This one I like a lot, I let my imagination fly and that´s why there are some real plants and some experiments. I cannot name all the plants in this arrangement, so I challenged myself to make a flower box with real plants only. Real plants I wanted to make but didn´t find the right time to do it.

Geranios/geraniums:

Fucsia. Esta planta la realicé siguiendo el tutorial de Victoria, quien hace unas flores preciosas y tiene unos tutoriales muy bien explicados. Hace mucho quería intentarlo. Me costó lo suyo, pues no tengo los troqueles necesarios y tiene muchos pasos pero al final ha valido la pena. Gracias Victoria!

Fuchsia: I made this plant following Victoría´s tutorial; she makes beautiful flowers. On her blog you can find excellent tutorials. I wanted to make this plant for a long time. It took me a lot of effort because I did not have the right punches and there are many steps to follow but at the end it was totally worth it. Thank you Victoria!

Así ha quedado al final. Me tomó 3 tardes terminar esta jardinera pero he quedado feliz como una perdiz. No serán perfectas pero al menos puedo nombrar cada una de las plantas de esta composición.

This is the result: It took me 3 days to complete it but I am a happy girl. They might not be perfect but at least I can name every plant in this arrangement.

Todavía falta una enredadera en la entrada de la terraza y otras cosillas. Esto es lo que llevo hasta el momento:

I still need to make a climbing plant at the entrance of the terrace and other things. This what I have made so far:
