Paredes y suelos/ Walls and floors

Today I am going to show the advances in walls and floors. For the ground floor where there will be a small living area and the kitchen I have decided to combine floors, the part of the living area will be in wood and the kitchen in tile, which I have tried to age using fine sandpaper and make dirty using eye shadows.

This floor is made with foam board. I made the joints first by passing the cutter very superficially and then with a blunt object I went over them with a ruler to make them deeper. Then I applied a few coats of paint and went over the joints again.

This is the exterior right side wall, it has the same style as the front, I have not filled the joints yet.

This is the front that, as you can see, already has the joints filled, I must dirty them a little more so that it looks as if the cabin was made many years ago.

I want the left side wall to be stone inside and out. Here I had some inconveniences because I did not have egg carton available and to be honest it is not an activity that I love. I already made a house with an entire stone facade once and it was torture lol, although it must be said, the result was great.

Anyway, I decided to try with filler putty, which I applied with a spatula quite roughly and then when it dried a little, I gave texture with different elements, a punch, toothbrush, foil and with a fine round pointed screwdriver I made the divisions and shapes of the stones quite irregularly. Above, the inside wall when I was testing, I figured I had to do it in a more rustic way. Underneath already finished and painted with different colours to give nuances to the stone. Anyway, I had to continue brushing with different colours and I also used a sponge as I was not satisfied with the color.

Here is the floor of the second floor that is all wooden. I used wide polo sticks and then it was just a matter of dyeing them with water dye.

I also decided that some interior walls would be plastered. The idea is that this is an old cabin to which little by little they have been improving.

Here I make a parenthesis. My initial idea was to make a tiny fisherman's cabin. But then when I got the house that I would use, although it is not large, it is big for a simple cabin, then my original idea has evolved. Yes, it is Manuel's fishing cabin, but it is also his little house in the forest where he goes to relax with his wife. Yes, Manuel is married, I'm looking for his wife and I will show you when I find the ideal candidate.

Well, I´m getting lost, as it is the marriage cabin, over the years Manuel has been improving it and making it more comfortable by request and demand of his wife, of course. So when Manuel comes to fish, she accompanies him and also spends her time relaxing and doing the things she likes. And here we go. So some interior walls have been plastered.

This is the exterior part of the stone wall that I already showed you, here I managed to give it the color I was looking for, although looking at the photo it is not very similar to reality, I suppose it is the light, here it looks very yellow and in reality it is not so.

This is the inside wall. As I did the lower part as a test of texture, colours, etc., I did not do the upper part and I had to do it later. Bad thing because now I can't find the right color. I will use this weekend to match the colours in daylight, since I work in a room with only artificial light, in the afternoons, and it doesn't help.

The front facade, as I said, needs to be dirtier.

The right exterior wall is also made of wood. The part of the ground floor is the same as the front, still unfilled and the part of the first floor in vertical wooden slats.

This would be the interior part of the same wall, with plaster on the ground floor, it is the kitchen area. On the second floor I am still deciding whether to use wood or plaster.

Although some details are missing before assembling, I have been doing tests to see how it looks.

Creo que no está mal, no?

I think it's not bad, right?

And this has been all my progress.

Another news is that we have created a new group of the forum where many of us started and met. The forum is almost dead, it doesn't even allow uploading photos anymore. This is why Carolina had the great idea of creating a group on Facebook to try to revive the activities and ties that united us.

The first activity was to show or make a miniature for Halloween. I had the idea to make something autumnial (is this a word?🤦‍♀️) , as I wanted to try some fimo pumpkins. This is the result, my pumpkins:

The truth is that I like them a lot, I think they are very cool 😁.

And here I used them to make some autumn decoration. Do you like it?The wooden kitten is a beautiful gift from Rosa. I also experimented by making a pumpkin teapot.

Well, well, as always when I finish a project I do a giveaway, and this time when I finished Tulio and Carmen's house I did not, I will do it now and vindicate myself.

I'm going to give my pumpkins away, I will add the leaves and other accessories from the photo ( not the kitten nor the teapot), so that the winner can make their own decoration. What do you think?

To participate it´s the same as always, be a follower and leave a comment on this post saying that you want to participate. The draw will be held on October 31.

Hasta entonces nos vemos. Cuidaros mucho.

See you then. Take care.

Buen finde Alex.

  7. Alex, thank you for bringing me a good laugh: "Manuel is married, I'm looking for his wife and I will show you when I find the ideal candidate." So this is the way it goes at your place??? *LOL*

I am in awe with all the amount of work you got done, wow, you've been busy and very productive - and the result is stunning. I love how the wood facade turned out and the stone structure looks terrific. I also like your autumnial (if not before - it is a word now! ) arrangement, very lovely, especially the idea with the border of autumn leaves. Keep on having fun - and stay safe.
