El salón casi terminado/ The living room nearly finished

Os muestro que productiva he estado. Mi salón está casi terminado, a falta de algunos accesorios que iré haciendo poco a poco. Hasta tiene luz!

Let me show you how productive I have been. My room is almost finished, it´s missing some accessories that I will be making little by little. It even has light!

Aquí os muestro la pieza de arte del salón, enmarcada por mí, es uno de los elementos decorativos principales.

Here I show you the art piece of the room, framed by me, which  is one of the main decorative elements.

Ya os había mostrado estos muebles, irán en par al fondo del salón, en plateado con elementos decorativos dorados y los espejos hechos por mí. El juego de té es un tesoro que encontré hace poco. Pertenecía a mi cuñada y lo encontramos cuando preparábamos sus cosas para llevarla a su nuevo hogar. Me parece el lugar perfecto para atesorarlo.

I already showed you these pieces of furniture, they will go in pairs at the back of the room, in silver with golden decorative elements and mirrors made by me. The tea set is a treasure that I found recently. It belonged to my sister-in-law and we found it when we were preparing her things to take her to her new home. I think it's the perfect place to treasure it.

A este aún le falta unas flores en el jarrón, quizás una rama de algodón, o de cerezo o unas orquídeas.

This one still needs some flowers in the vase, perhaps a branch of cotton, or a cherry blossom or some orchids.

He cambiado la localización de la puerta. Podéis observar que a través del "cristal" se pueden ver las escaleras que dan acceso al piso superior y también a una terraza trasera.

I have changed the location of the door. Through the "glass" you can see the stairs that give access to the upper floor and also to a rear terrace.

He hecho las lámparas yo misma usando unas luces que se consiguen en Wish, Joom o Alí express. 

I have made the lamps myself using lights that are available in Wish, Joom or Ali express.

El único problema es que tuve que ingeniármelas para que fueran desmontables, pues la primera vez dejé las baterías montadas y luego no encendían. Supongo que aun apagadas el contacto permanente las agotó. Ahora debo poner las pilas cada vez que quiero luz, pero es mucho menos complicado (y barato!) que cualquier otro método además de algo que os mostraré más adelante. 

The only problem is that I had to engineer them to be removable, as the first time I left the batteries in and later they did not turn on. I suppose that even when off, the permanent contact consumed them. Now I have to put the batteries every time I want the lights on, but it is much less complicated (and cheaper!) than any other method besides something else that I will show you later.

Aquí empiezo a montar la decoración. Estas alfombras las conseguí con una chica, Nicola Brown, que las vendía en este grupo de facebook. Son preciosas!!

Here I am starting to put the decoration together. I got these rugs from Nicola Brown, who sold them in this facebook group. They are beautiful!!

El juego de comedor pintado y tapizado por mí. No recuerdo cuantas manos de pintura tuve que darle pero finalmente conseguí el blanco inmaculado que buscaba. Aun debo darles barniz.

The dining set painted and upholstered by me. I do not remember how many coats of paint I had to do but finally I got the immaculate white I was looking for. I still have to varnish them.

Toda la decoración de la mesa la hice utilizando elementos para hacer joyería.

I made all the decoration on the table using elements for jewelry.

El sofá me enamoró en cuanto lo vi. Tenía otro sofá que iba a aprovechar, pero no pude resistir la tentación y compré este.

I fell in love with the sofa when I saw it. I had another sofa that I was going to use, but I could not resist the temptation and I bought this one.

Y qué me decís de la silla tan moderna? Otra compra.

And what about the modern chair? Another purchase.

Este es básicamente el salón a falta de alguna cosilla más y un par de plantas que también están por hacer.

This is basically the room, missing maybe one or two more things, and a couple of plants that are also to be done.

Ahora os muestro lo que os decía de las luces. Vienen con un control remoto que permite diferentes colores y efectos. Me encantan!! Mirad vosotros mismos.

No es genial?/ Isn´t it great?

¿Creéis que he logrado la apariencia que buscaba? Una decoración contemporánea y clásica a la vez, con blanco de base y ligeros toques de color plateado, dorado, negro y azul. Creo que lo logré un 90%, al final ha sido más colorido de lo que planeaba en un principio, pero ¿qué puedo hacer? No puedo resistirme al color. 😀😀😀

Do you think I have achieved the look I was looking for? A contemporary and classic decoration at the same time, with a white base and light touches of silver, gold, black and blue. I think I achieved it 90%, in the end it was more colorful than I had planned at first, but what can I do? I cannot resist colours. 😀😀😀

Un poco más de aquí y allá/ A little bit more here and there

Hola!!

Sigo trabajando saltando entre estancias, de trabajos en suelos y paredes a pequeños detalles decorativos. Lo dicho, en esta casa no llevo un orden específico.

I keep working between rooms, from flooring to walls to small decorative details. As I said in this house I do not have a specific order.

Os decía que os contaría como había hecho el suelo. Para no hacer la cosa larga os diré que es el mismo método de cortar las piezas y pegarlas una a una intercalándolas y dejando un pequeño espacio entre ellas para rellenar las juntas con masilla tapa grietas. La única diferencia ha sido que no usé ni madera ni cartón, sino papel vinílico auto adhesivo, del que venden en las tiendas de decoración. Lo compré en Leroy Merlin, imitación madera oscura. Luego fui cortando las tiras y piezas, lo cual se facilita pues el papel viene con cuadricula en la parte posterior. Al dejar unos pequeños espacios a manera de juntas y luego rellenar con tapa grietas se logra un efecto muy realista y natural. El único problema que tuve es que hay que repasar con un paño húmedo tan pronto se da la masilla, pues se endurece rápido y cuesta retirar en seco. En mi caso se decoloró un poco. Al final, pasé cera con trapo seco y les juro que el suelo se ve muy realista.

I said that I would tell how I made the floor. To summarise let me say that it is the same method of cutting pieces and sticking them one by one interspersing them and leaving a small space between to fill the joints with plaster or putty. The only difference was that I did not use wood or cardboard, but self-adhesive vinyl paper, which they sell in decoration stores. I bought it in Leroy Merlin, dark wood-like self -adhesive paper . I cut the strips and pieces, which is easier because the paper comes with a grid on the back. By leaving small spaces as joints and then filling them with putty, a very realistic and natural effect is achieved. The only problem I had is that  it´s necessary to  go over with a damp cloth as soon as the putty is applied, as it hardens quickly and it´s difficult to remove it once dry. In my case the colour fainted a bit. Finally, I passed wax with a dry cloth and I promise you that the floor looks very realistic.

Os muestro mis pequeños avances/ Let me show you the little progress I have made.

Seguí el consejo de Birgit y he escondido la tira de luz, en este caso con una cenefa hecha con maderitas, aquí está medio puesta aun, pero al pegarla queda muy bien y da un efecto de luz indirecta espectacular a la vez que esconde la tira. Genial!

I followed Birgit´s advice and I have hidden the light strip. In this case with a wood stripe, here it is not yet glued. It looks very good once glued and gives a spectacular indirect light effect while hiding the strip . Cool!

El espejo lo hice yo misma, con un espejo, cartón, maderitas y apliques metálicos. Aquí estoy jugando con la decoración. Al final decidí que estos muebles sean solo en plateado con apliques en dorado y me encanta el resultado final. Aún no sé cuales elementos usaré para decorarlos, estos son solo pruebas.

The mirror I made myself, using a mirror of course, cardboard, wood and metal accesories. Here I am playing with the decoration. In the end I decided that these pieces of furniture will be only silver with golden handles. I love the final result. I still do not know what elements I will use to decorate them, these are just tests.

Por supuesto esta casa tiene que tener arte e imágenes acordes al estilo.

This house must have art and images according to the style, of course.

Y por último, los avances del baño/ At last, the progress so far in the bathroom.

 

A ver, qué os parece. Las fotos ayudan, ya he visto los fallos y he decidido ciertos cambios. Cambiaré la ventana, ni será esa, ni será en negro. La alfombrilla, aunque me gusta el estampado se ve fuera de lugar. Tengo que hacer algo con la ducha, no me gusta como se ve la parte metálica. Y en cuanto al cerramiento del espacio de la ducha, tengo que gestionar la pared izquierda pues tiene que poder abrirse. Ay, en esas ando, mi cerebro trabajando a mil por horas aunque no se note.

What do you think? The photos help, I have already seen the failures and I have decided certain changes. I will change the window, nor will it be that, nor will it be in black. The mat, although I like the pattern it looks out of place, so out. I have to do something with the shower itself, I like the head but I do not like what the metal part looks like. And as for the enclosure of the shower space, I have to figure out the left wall because it has to be able to open. Oh, that´s where I am, my brain working a thousand times per hour, even if you cannot tell.

Un poco de todo/ A bit of everything

Nuevamente por aquí, a ver si os muestro algunos avances. Con esta casa me pasa que voy trabajando poco a poco en lo que se me facilite más, o me apetezca, o tenga los materiales. Normalmente voy haciendo habitación por habitación, pero en esta ocasión y por diferentes motivos no ha sido así. Bueno, empezaré con los avances de la cocina.

Here I am again trying to show you some progress. With this house  I am working little by little in what is easier for me, or I feel like it, or I have the materials for. Normally I do room by room, but this time and for different reasons it has not been like that. Let me start with the kitchen progress.

He cambiado la encimera, como ven el "granito" es diferente. No es que no me gustara la anterior, sino que no fui capaz de reproducirla cuando hice la isla central. Así que se me ocurrió buscar una imagen en la web, la imprimí y cambié todas las encimeras, luego apliqué barniz y la verdad es que me gusta mucho. Se ve muy natural.

I have changed the worktops, as you can see the "granite" is different. It's not that I didn´t like the previous one, but I wasn´t able to reproduce it for the central island. So I had the idea to look for an image on the web, which I printed it and then changed all the countertops, after that I applied varnish. I actually like it a lot. It looks very natural.

También hice una isla central desde cero, usando madera, forrada con el papel del "alicatado" de la pared y utilizando un fregadero de otra cocina. Aquí falta el grifo.

 I also made a central island from scratch, using wood, then covered with paper from the wall "tiling" and using a sink from another kitchen. Here the tap is missing.

La campana no es la definitiva, pero a veces uso piezas temporales para ir viendo como van quedando las cosas.

The extractor is not the definitive one, sometimes I use temporary pieces just to see how things are going.

Estos bancos sí los compré pensando en esta cocina pero han resultado muy altos o los muebles muy bajos. Tengo que buscar una solución.

The stools I bought for this kitchen are very high or the kitchen furniture very low. I need to find a solution.

Entre los dos gabinetes superiores instalaré unas baldas.

Os conté que a esta casa si le quiero poner luz, pero al ser moderna, quiero intentar cosas diferentes, algunas me han funcionado, otras no, ha sido un proceso lento. Os muestro la luz de la cocina.

Between the two wall cabinets I will install some shelves.

I told you that I want to put lights on this house. Being modern, I want to try different things, some have worked, others have not; it has been a slow process. Here I´ll show you the kitchen lights.

He instalado un sistema de tiras Led, comprado a través de Wish por 4€ que funciona con pilas (no incluidas) y con mando remoto. Tuve que hacer un huecazo al fondo y luego tapar con masilla, lijar y pintar. Todavía falta pulirlo un poco más.

Así se ve iluminada la cocina, la luz es blanca, pero resulta bastante azulosa. Estas luces vienen con un mando remoto que permite cambiar el color y tener diferentes efectos. Es muy divertido.

I have installed a system of Led strips bought in Wish for 4€. It works with batteries (not included) and comes with a remote control. I had to make a hole at the back and then covered with putty, I sanded and painted again. I still need to polish it more.

Below you can see how it looks with the lights on. It is white light, but it turns out to be quite blue. The lights come with a remote control that allows you to change the color and have different effects. It is fun.

También he intentado poner unas lámparas sobre la isla, pero me han decepcionado las pequeñas bombillas Led llamadas grano de arroz, la luz que dan es muy poca. No sé si vale la pena el esfuerzo de instalarlas.

I have also tried to put some lamps above the island, but I am disappointed by the small Led bulbs called rice grain, the light they give is very low. I do not know if it's worth the effort to install them.

En el baño he instalado el alicatado y cubierto el techo con papel de acuarelas. Todos los cielos rasos están hechos así, cortados a la medida en papel acuarela y pegados con pegamento en barra. Es fácil, económico y me gusta la textura y el acabado del papel. En mi opinión mucho mejor que pintar y mucho más barato que comprar papel especial.

In the bathroom I installed the tiling and covered the ceiling with watercolor paper. All ceilings are made like this, watercolor paper cut to size and glued with  gluestick. It's easy and cheap. I like the texture and the finish of the paper. In my opinion it is much better than painting and much cheaper than buying special paper.

También he estado buscando suelos para el salón. Sabéis que me encantan los suelos hidráulicos y quise mirar varias opciones para esta casa. Debajo hay una prueba.

I have also been looking for a floor for the living room. You know that I love hydraulic floors so I wanted to look for some options for this house. Below there is a trial.

Me encanta el suelo, pero lo he probado con algunos de los muebles que usaré y definitivamente no va con el esquema de color de esta casa. Una pena.

I love the floor but I have tried it with some of the furniture I will use and it definitely does not go with the color scheme of this house. What a shame.

Así que decidí probar un suelo moderno, en madera laminada, oscuro. Y esto ha salido.

So I decided to try a modern floor, laminated dark wood. And this is what has come out:

Os gusta? A mi me encanta!! Ahora puedo seguir avanzando. La falta de suelo en el salón me tenía bloqueada y ha atrasado los trabajos jaja. En la próxima entrada os contaré cómo los hice.

Do you like it? I love it!! Now I can move forward. The lack of floor in the room had blocked me and has delayed the work lol. In the next post I´ll tell you how I made the floor.

Es todo por hoy. Parece que no hubiese avanzado mucho, pero cada detalle lleva su trabajo. Sin embargo, se van acabando las tareas más complicadas y me voy acercando a la parte más divertida.

It´s all for today. It seems that I had not advanced much, but every detail takes some work. However, the most complicated tasks are ending and I am getting closer to the funniest part.

Hello!!

Ando un poco pérdida. Sigo trabajando en mi casita y he hecho algunos avances, ya os mostraré pronto.

I have not been around lately. But I'm still working in my house and I've made some progress so I'll show you soon.

Mientras tanto, una pequeña entrada para saludaros y desearos un feliz día de San Valentín. La verdad no es un día que tenga la tradición de celebrar, aunque no me puedo quejar en asuntos del corazón 😊💓😊. Sin embargo Tulio al parecer sí lo celebra, a pesar de su edad le gustan esas cosas y además es romántico. Sin más, os dejo con Tulio y Carmen y como celebran este día. (Haz click en la primera foto y así veréis mejor la secuencia).

In the mean time , I am bringin a small entry to say hello and wish you a happy Valentine's Day. The truth is I don´t have the tradition of celebrating it, although I cannot complain about  my love life😊💓😊. However Tulio apparently celebrates it, despite his age he likes those things and is also a romantic. Without further ado, I leave you with Tulio and Carmen and how they celebrate this day.
