La cabaña terminada/ The finished cabin

Espero que todos estéis bien y mil gracias por vuestros comentarios que se agradecen y disfruto leyendo.

Pues lo dicho, he terminado la cabaña y ahora tengo un poco de nostalgia. Lo bueno es que podré seguir contemplándola siempre que quiera y seguramente añadiré alguna cosilla en el futuro.

En la entrada anterior os mostré el porche terminado pero sin decorar. Os traigo unas primeras fotos de como ha quedado.

I hope you are all well and thank you for your kind comments, they are appreciated and I enjoy reading them very much.

As I said, I have finished the cabin and now I am a bit nostalgic. The good thing is that I will be able to continue contemplating it whenever I want and I will surely add something else in the future.

In the previous post I showed you the finished porch but with no decoration, now I bring you some photos of how it has turned out.

Vamos primero a recordar como es el kit que usé para esta cabaña.

Let´s remember first the kit I used to make this cabin.

Ahora las fotos. Os advierto que traigo muchas fotos, pero son las últimas y mi excusa es que este blog es el baúl de recuerdos de todos mis proyectos.

Now the photos. Let me warn you that I am posting many photos, but they are the last and my excuse is that this blog is the memory storage of all my projects.

De pronto he recordado que el propósito de esta entrada es mostraros la cabaña al completo pero con sus habitantes en el interior. Afortunadamente, Manuel y Gertrudis gustosamente me han permitido fotografiarlos en su cotidianidad.

Suddenly I have remembered that the purpose of this post is to show you the entire cabin but with its inhabitants inside. Thankfully, Manuel and Gertrudis have gladly allowed me to photograph them in their daily lives.

Pude afinar esos pequeños detalles que tanto encanto dan, y como ven las tazas ya no están vacías, ahora Manuel y Gertrudis disfrutan de un rico café recién hecho (o chocolate, quizás?).

I was able to refine those little details that give so much charm, and as you can see, the cups are not empty anymore, now Manuel and Gertrudis are enjoying a delicious freshly made coffee (or chocolate, perhaps?).

Otra cosa que hube de afinar, me molestaba el plato con leche para el gatito, la leche no sienta bien a los gatos adultos y es mucho mejor el pienso. Pues corregido está!

Another thing that I had to refine, the cat´s bowl with milk bothered me, milk does not sit well with adult cats, cat food is much better. Now it is corrected!

Y si el día está fresco, porqué no encender el fuego?

And if the day is cool, why not light the fire?

Y ya está!! Desde ahora Manuel y Gertrudis podrán disfrutar de su cabaña en cualquier época del año y hora del día. Espero les haya gustado este proyecto y lo hayan disfrutado al menos un poco. Yo lo disfruté muchísimo y me siento satisfecha con el resultado.

Y ahora qué viene? Ya tengo planes, pero eso os contaré en otra entrada.

And that's it !! From now on Manuel and Gertrudis will be able to enjoy their cabin at any time of the year and at any time of the day. I hope you liked this project and enjoyed it at least a little. I really enjoyed it and I am satisfied with the result.

And now what comes? I already have plans, but I'll tell you about that in another post.

La fachada de la cabaña/ the cabin´s facade

En la entrada anterior os mostré el interior de la cabaña y algunos seguidores la dieron por terminada, pero no, no lo estaba, faltaban detalles muy importantes de la fachada.

Os muestro cuál es la cabaña que he intentado emular en este proyecto, el modelo a seguir y que os mostré a los inicios.

In the previous post I showed you the interior of the cabin and some followers considered it finished, but no, it was not, very important details of the facade were still to be done.

Let me show you which is the cabin that I have tried to emulate in this project, the model to follow and that I showed you at the beginning.

No exactamente igual pero algo parecido. Lo que sí quería hacer es la base de piedra que sostiene a la cabaña. Para ello utilicé una lámina de porexpán muy gruesa (en mi país le llamamos icopor)  que compré online especialmente para este fin. Una vez cortada de las dimensiones necesarias procedí a darle una textura irregular simplemente rascando la superficie, hecho esto y con un pequeño punzón romo, me puse a tallar la piedra. Un procedimiento muy fácil y rápido pero eso sí preparaos porque no es limpio para nada y tendrán miles de partículas blancas volando por todos lados.

Not exactly the same but something similar. What I did want to do is the stone base that supports the cabin. For this I used a very thick polystyrene sheet (in my country we call it Styrofoam) that I bought online especially for this purpose. Once it was cut to the necessary dimensions, I proceeded to give it an irregular texture simply by scratching the surface, this done and with a small blunt punch, I began to carve the stone. A very easy and fast procedure, but be prepared because it is not clean at all and you will have thousands of white particles flying everywhere.

Aquí podéis ver la aspiradora a un lado, porque el caos fue terrible. Luego descubrí que fue muy mala idea porque las partículas obstruyeron el filtro de esta, pero eso sí, el cuarto quedó limpio. No sé qué recomendaros usar porque la limpieza de la aspiradora no fue fácil. Pero "no pain no gain" sin dolor no hay ganancia, el resultado vale la pena.

Here you can see the vacuum cleaner to one side, because the chaos was terrible. Then I discovered that that was a very bad idea because the particles clogged the hoover´s filter, but yes, the room was clean. I don't know what to recommend you to use because cleaning the vacuum filter was not easy. But "no pain no gain" the result is worth it.

Terminado el tallado, recomiendo poner una capa de cola blanca que permitirá que al pintar no se sigan soltando partículas. Luego, me puse a pintar la piedra, empezando por las líneas del tallado para que sobresalgan. 

Cuando pinto, nunca tengo un plan, voy experimentando según voy haciendo. Para esta piedra utilicé varios marrones, un poco de gris, ocre y terracota. Si no me gusta, sigo matizando hasta quedar satisfecha.

Once the carving is finished, I recommend putting a layer of white glue that will prevent particles from being released when painting. Then, I began to paint the stone, starting with the carving lines so they stand out.

When I paint, I never have a plan, I experiment as I go. For this stone I used various browns, a little gray, ochre and terracotta. If I don't like it, I keep trying until I'm satisfied.

Aquí se puede observar la primera parte de la chimenea de piedra exterior, que también estaba en mis planes.

Here you can see the first part of the exterior stone fireplace, which was also in my plans.

Otra cosa que tenía planeada era hacer un pequeño porche, sencillo sin barandilla y con techo igual al tejado de la casa. Para ello corté una pieza delgada de madera y luego, con la ayuda de David armar con postes para que descansara el techo sobre él.

Another thing I had planned was to make a small porch, a simple one, no railing and with a tin roof  as the house´s roof.  To do this, I cut a thin piece of wood and then, with David´s help, assemble it with posts so that the roof would rest on it.

Aquí está el primer intento, al ponerlo y mostrarle a Carolina, me hizo ver que era demasiado grande/ancho, así que vuelta a empezar. Gracias a la vida por David, no protestó, lo desarmó, corto el sobrante, volvió a armar y voilá, satisfecha con el porche.

Here's the first try, When I put it on and showed it to Carolina, she made me realise that it was too big / wide so I started over. Thank goodness for David, he didn't protest, he took it apart, cut the excess, put it back together and voila, I was satisfied with the porch.

Luego vino mi parte, cubrir con maderitas, esta vez con palos de polo gruesos y luego teñidos con tinte de madera al agua.

Then it was time for my part, covering with wood, this time with thick popsicle sticks and then staining with water-based wood stain.

El porche es removible, para que se pueda mover la fachada y ver el interior.

The porch is removable, so that the facade can be moved to see the interior.

Queda bien, no? aquí arriba ya había puesto el techo a falta de pintura.

It looks good, doesn't it? In the photo above the ceiling is on and waiting to be painted. 

Y aquí ya con pintura. Como veis el color es diferente al del tejado, es lo que pasa cuando se trabaja a lo que salga, luego no soy capaz de reproducirlo exactamente. Pero no lo intenté, no me molesta. Esta cabaña como lo sabéis, es antigua, ha sido construida en el tiempo, le han ido añadiendo cosas y reparando aquí y allá, así que la diferencia en los techos a mi parecer casa perfectamente con su historia.

And here already with paint. As you can see, the color is different from that of the roof. It is what happens when you work with no plans, then I am not able to reproduce exactly what I did before. But I didn't try, it doesn't bother me. This cabin, as you know, is old, it has been built over time, things have been added and repaired here and there, so the difference in the roofs in my opinion perfectly matches its story.

Y aquí ya podéis ver la fachada terminada con todos sus detalles, antes de decorarla con su mobiliario.

And here you can see the finished facade with all its details, before decorating it with furniture.

Os gusta? a mí me encanta y tengo muchas ganas de mostraros el resultado final y hacerle un reportaje fotográfico en condiciones junto a sus habitantes. Pero eso será en la próxima y última entrada de esta mi cabaña y la de Manuel y Gertrudis.
