La Juguetería/The toy shop

Hola!!

I know, I have been away from the blog. What can I tell you? I had a crazy summer. Last year I was promoted at work, which is very good but with that there are more responsibilities. So in summer when we have "full house" the work gets multiplied and with my new responsibilities, the truth was, I was very stressed. In addition I had two small accidents in my hands, the first one was that a cat that I rescued,  bit me, she lived in the stairs outside my flat for a month, thankfully she is now safe and sound in a refuge; the second accident was that I cut a finger when working on the scene.

In spite of everything, miniatures are a balm so I made room and finished it on time.

I did not have a hard time with the scene because as you already know my fellow miniaturists from the forum sent many beautiful mini wonders so I only had to make the scene itself. However, it cost me to start because I wanted to look for the ideal material to make it not so heavy and at the same time to support securely everything that would go inside. I tried several materials but in the end I chose wood as nothing else felt strong enough. My first idea was to make it bigger but as the scene has to be sent by mail, I decided to limit it in size. In the end it is 40x30x30 cm. I'll show you:

Then came the time to choose colors, floor, papers, etc. I am not lying to you if I say that I tried at least 10 different types of floor, I didn't like anything!

Finally I found what I was looking for, I like it a lot. Let me show you:

With the box ready it was a matter of only filling it with the miniatures sent. I had a lot of fun, the only problem was trying to give prominence to each miniature available.

¡Cuántas maravillas!, ¿no? How many wonderful things! right?

And finally, I put a light garland which gives it a very cool touch. Also seeing that my work itself was not much, I decided to make a facade to the shop.

Do you like it? At least I had a lot of fun, I hope I have done justice to this project and that everybody involved is excited. I left some ideas out, since it is well filled and assorted, I did not want to make more things that might only saturate the scene instead of improving it. Today, September 2, with the  lottery "la Once", we will raffle the scene and one of the contributors will be the winner.

I´ll leave you with more photos.

Hasta pronto!! See you soon!!

Alex 😊😊😊

  1. What a wonderful project - the member of your group who will be the very lucky winner will own on outstanding room box filled with the most awesome miniatures. And you've done a great job with the shop itself and displaying all these fantastic items. A very good decision to add the facade as it will also serve as dust protection. The color scheme is very nice (Although it made me smile to hear about your hard time when choosing the right floor paper. From my own experience I can honestly say I could have let's say 300 different papers but would still not find the right one needed for the actual project *LOL*) But what I liked the most are those little decorative elements you've added like the garland and the Mickey Mouse confetti. Thanks for all the photos, I really enjoyed looking at them. And fingers crossed for your hands to heal soon.

    Hugs

  3. Hi Alex! Summer really did fly by and when we are inundated at work we definitely need a load of sleep and distraction just to cope! Your boo boos look painful and I hope you are just about all healed up! We forget that our soft and snugly cats can defend themselves very well and sometimes it's against us!
It is apparent that by seeing how you have united everyone's contributions into such a wonderfully stocked and beautifully displayed toy shop that you were the right person for the job!
I love the facade with it's embellishments, signage, large windows and leaded glass transom. It looks like a place that a child would be compelled to explore!
I love the complimentary papers and flooring that you used to decorate and anchor the space. My favorite mini vignettes are the ones with layer upon layer of detail and you didn't skip a beat!
Each of the displays are perfectly balance and poised to showcase all these truly magnificent pieces! I love the little girls having tea!
Whomever fortune smiles upon in the drawing will be truly enriched to have this wonderful toy store with contributions from so many talented miniaturists in their collection! Awesome job!

  7. Great job Alex! All the tiny toys are fantastic and deserve their own little place in the spotlight. Your arrangement has let every toy shine. So cute! And the flooring choice was the right one! It looks lovely. Wall and floor coverings really do set the scene. I hope your injuries heal quickly and the kitty finds someone it doesn’t want to scratch!

Has hecho un trabajo excelente, te felicito!
